Facts about Pakistan
Although it is a resource-rich country, Pakistan suffers from regional strife, high inflation, natural disasters and low growth. The World Bank estimates that over a fifth of the population lives in poverty.
Pakistan’s public education system does not prepare citizens for the modern economy. Pakistani women average seven years in school, and men, eight. Their combined literacy rate is only 58 percent. With a population unequipped for the job market, Pakistanis rely on the informal and rural sectors for income.
When poor people have access to financial services and life-enhancing products, they can earn more, build their assets, create jobs and cushion themselves against external shocks. Since 2013, FINCA has been helping thousands of Pakistanis improve their lives. FINCA offers financial services, such as loans, savings and money transfers throughout the country.
