Facts about Africa

FINCA has been in sub-Saharan Africa since 1992. FINCA Impact Finance subsidiaries include DR Congo, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. We fight poverty in the region by ensuring low-income and unbanked Africans can access basic financial services including:

• loans to build a business and grow livelihoods
• savings accounts to keep money safe and build a cushion for hard times
• insurance to protect assets from major or unexpected life events
• money transfers to safely send money to family members living far away.

FINCA also uses fintech innovations like agency banking and mobile wallets in Africa to reach those in remote areas and make banking easier and more convenient.

In addition, FINCA’s BrightLife program in Uganda is impacting more than 100,000 lives with clean, safe and reliable energy through high-quality and affordable solar lighting and improved cookstoves. And through FINCA Ventures, we are improving access to clean energy, digital education, improved sanitation, quality health care and agricultural services across the continent.

By offering financial and basic service products to Africans living in poverty, we are providing a sustainable method for women and men to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
