In 2024, FINCA Ventures’ investments in early-stage social enterprises helped improve the livelihoods and wellbeing of over 12.5 million people across Sub-Saharan Africa — reaching nearly 200 individuals for every $100 invested.
Our portfolio companies delivered affordable, high-quality products and services in a range of critical sectors, demonstrating that strategic investments can drive meaningful progress for entire communities. FINCA’s support plays a catalytic role, helping companies attract additional shareholders, accelerate innovation, and scale their solutions to meet growing demand.

A Portfolio Built for Growth and Inclusion
FINCA Ventures invests in companies from four key sectors that address the urgent priorities and long-term development challenges of underserved communities: agriculture, health and wellbeing, financial inclusion, and education. We have found these to play a key role in positively contributing to people’s livelihoods, helping to improve individuals and communities’ economic and physical resilience, and supporting their ability to end the burden of intergenerational poverty by educating their children.
In 2024, FINCA Ventures’ portfolio was strongly weighted towards agriculture and health and wellbeing. The largest share of our investments was directed to agriculture, underscoring both the vital role of smallholder farmers in fighting rural poverty and the strong pace of innovation currently transforming this sector.
Although agriculture received the most capital, financial inclusion reached the greatest number of people. Nearly 7 million customers accessed financial services in 2024 as a result of our tech-savvy fintech investees achieving massive scale. The financial inclusion sector accounted for more than half of our portfolio’s total customer base, despite comprising less than 20% of our total investments.

Financial Inclusion ($1.2M)
- 6.7M+ customers served through digital financial services
- $1.24B in loans disbursed and $142.9M in savings mobilized, equaling $1,000 in credit for every dollar invested
- 555 people reached per $100 invested, the highest outreach across all sectors
Agriculture ($3.1M)
- 4.5M smallholder farmers supported
- $13.3M paid to farmers, averaging $614 per farmer, equaling more than $4 in income for every dollar invested
- 1,252 jobs created in agriculture-related value chains
- 148 people reached per $100 invested
Health and Wellbeing ($2.4M)
- 387K patients served and 188 health facilities supported
- 1.7M liters of clean water distributed to 631K people
- 35K people benefited from improved sanitation services
- 46 people reached per $100 invested
Education ($200K)
- 269K students and 10.6K teachers supported
- 926 schools provided with tech-enabled learning solutions
- 140 people reached per $100 invested
