Poverty Alleviation and FINCA

FINCA’s mission is to alleviate poverty through lasting solutions that help people build assets, create jobs and raise their standard of living. Our microfinance, social enterprise and research programs are crucial to our mission of poverty alleviation.

Many of our clients around the world are poor or economically vulnerable. They live in challenging conditions with few possibilities to make a living. Our socially responsible financial services – including loans and savings – can make all the difference in their lives.

How We Help Alleviate Poverty

Poverty is a multifaceted challenge. Providing reliable and responsible financial services is part of the solution, just like providing education, health care, clean water or access to energy.

For poor families in the developing world, living in poverty means trying to survive with few options and opportunities. One illness, poor harvest or major weather event can be catastrophic.

FINCA focuses on poverty alleviation by putting capital directly into the hands of millions of poor people. With this capital, our clients can weather the tough times and create livelihoods that supports their families. This, in turn, helps strengthen the local economy and provide new opportunities to more people.

Ultimately poverty impacts individuals AND entire economies. A country with 80% of its population lacking access to basic financial services cannot progress.
