“A picture is worth a thousand words.” This expression holds true especially when it comes to showcasing FINCA clients’ resilience, hope, and determination.
FINCA held an internal photography competition earlier this year and invited colleagues from around the FINCA network and employees from all FINCA Ventures investee companies to submit photographs that portray our clients’ wisdom, talent, and work ethic. We received more than 230 photo submissions from team members around the world.
Below are the winning photographs:

Mayen K Adol is a South Sudanese refugee and FINCA Uganda customer. With the help of capital from FINCA, Mayen has grown her fish stall business and profits, increased her stock, saved money, sent her children to better schools, and has provided her family access to healthcare services.

FINCA Uganda staff gave an interactive financial literacy session at a local school. The children learned how banks operate and their role in financial security, the importance of saving from a young age, and about responsible money management.

FINCA Uganda client and refugee Auma Santa meets with FINCA staff. “I wanted to borrow money, but it wasn’t easy because I was a refugee from South Sudan settled in Kiryandongo,” said Auma Santa. “I thank FINCA for providing loans to refugees, as they have helped develop many businesses in our communities.”

These photos provide a glimpse into the strength and resilience of the people FINCA serves. And these moments captured by FINCA colleagues not only reflect the deep relationships we build in communities around the world but serve as a reminder of why we do what we do.
As we celebrate this competition’s winners, we also reaffirm our commitment to keeping our customers at the center of everything we do.
