Herma Majoor

Board member, FINCA UK

Herma Majoor has started her career in banking. After having finished her master’s degree in economics, she worked for 13 years in the treasury department in one of the largest banks in the Netherlands. She then switched her focus to nutrition and obtained an additional master’s degree in applied science: nutrition and toxicology. She moved abroad with her family and started working as a food security, nutrition and gender expert in development projects, even though finance related work was never far away.

After having lived in Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh and Egypt for 12 years in total, she moved back to the Netherlands, to become director of a consultancy firm with a focus on gender, followed by a career as independent expert in nutrition and gender in development and humanitarian projects all over the world.

Currently, Herma and her husband live alternately in Limburg, the Netherlands and Pas-du-Nord, France, and her four adult children have moved out. In her professional life, she is passionate about gender equality and inclusive programming, and in private terms she is mostly cooking and reading books and searching for opportunities to learn.
