FINCA helps Africans living in poverty access financial services and clean energy products to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
Angelina, FINCA Zambia education entrepreneur, used her first loan to purchase school supplies for her pupils. Subsequent loans have allowed Angelina to purchase furniture and open a shop nearby.
Facts about AfricaFINCA has been in sub-Saharan Africa since 1992 and currently operates in six countries in Africa: DR Congo, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. We fight poverty in the region by ensuring low-income and unbanked Africans can access basic financial services including: • loans to build a business and grow livelihoods • savings accounts to keep money safe and build a cushion for hard times • insurance to protect assets from major or unexpected life events • money transfers to safely send money to family members living far away. FINCA also uses innovative banking technology like agent and mobile banking in Africa to reach those in remote areas and make banking easier and more convenient. In addition, through our BrightLife program in Uganda, we are helping thousands of families access clean and safe energy through clean cookstoves and solar lighting. By offering financial and energy products to Africans living in poverty, we are providing a sustainable method for women and men to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
