Eric Chern

Eric co-founded Chicago Trading Company (“CTC”) in 1995. CTC is an industry leader in analytics-based options and derivatives trading and risk management with offices in Chicago, London and Hong Kong.

Eric serves on CTC’s Board of Directors and focuses on CTC’s external engagement, advocacy and corporate citizenship efforts. From 2009 to June 2019, Eric led CTC as Chief Executive Officer. Eric established the firm’s Global Risk Management function and has been involved in the financial markets since 1992. Previously, Eric traded US equity index options at O’Connor Associates/Swiss Bank Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Engineering with high honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Eric has been a key driver of CTC’s corporate social responsibility efforts. The company has done extensive philanthropic work to effect meaningful change in a number of areas, including educational equity, diversity and inclusion, reforestation, autism, and supporting marginalized and underserved communities. Eric co-chairs the FINCA International Advisory Council and serves on the boards of the Chicagoland Chapter of Autism Speaks, A Better Chicago, Commodity Markets Council, the MSFE Advisory Board at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Advisory Board of the Glenbrook North High School Business Incubator Program. Additionally, Eric is a member of YPO Chicago.

Eric resides in Northbrook with his wife, Laurie, and their three children, Dylan (20), Jane (17) and Arielle (17).
