This paper, originally published by CGAP, traces the journey of two microfinance organizations, Baobab and FINCA, that have worked with their “sister” pay-as-you-go (PAYGo) solar subsidiaries in Africa to acquire new customers and offer existing customers new financial products. It includes examples of the innovative work between BrightLife and FINCA Uganda.
The publication considers the approach taken by Baobab and FINCA as a template for other microfinance institutions to reach more customers through partnerships with asset finance companies, fintechs and others.
