The two-day workshop in Guatemala City aimed to empower over 150 young Guatemalans with the knowledge and tools to start their own businesses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peacejam.org\/nobels\/rigoberta-mench%C3%BA\">Rigoberta Mench\u00fa<\/a>, Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights activist, was the keynote speaker. She spoke about conflict and human rights in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fincacanada.org\/where-we-work\/latin-america\/guatemala\">Guatemala <\/a>and her role at the PeaceJam Foundation. Two FINCA clients \u2013 Hugo Jiataz, an auto repair shop owner and Javier Luna, a construction company owner \u2013 shared their experiences and challenges of being entrepreneurs in the country.<\/p>\n<p>After four cars were stolen from his business, Hugo learned how to keep moving forward in his business. \u201cYou have to learn how to recover from losses,\u201d he told the attendees. \u201cIt makes you stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Javier added, \u201cWhen you are earning a good profit, you need to save a percentage of those earnings as eventually you will face a downfall in your business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year, over 30,000 clients in Guatemala, are growing their businesses thanks to FINCA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fincacanada.org\/our-work\/microfinance\">microfinance loans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Kelly, a travel influencer and founder of The Points Guy, was also a guest speaker. He shared his knowledge on the various steps to develop a successful business.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the workshop, students interacted with speakers and developed presentations on entrepreneurship,
