FINCA Canada appoints Marie-Claude Guay as Executive Director
FINCA Canada’s board of directors has appointed Marie-Claude Guay as new Executive Director effective immediately. Marie-Claude succeeds to Stephanie Emond, the first FINCA Canada Executive Director, who successfully led the non-profit organization since 2010. Stephanie steps down to pursue her professional journey with the Canadian Development Finance Institution – FINDEV Canada – a new organization that has the mandate to provide financial services to the private sector in developing countries with the aim of combating poverty through economic growth. Stephanie will remain a close friend of FINCA Canada and as such, helped the board of directors to find her successor.
‘’We wish Stephanie all the best as she embarks on the next phase of her career. Stephanie is a tremendous leader as she led us to the forefront as a big player in the field of Microfinance. We know she will excel in her new role. We are excited to enter the next phase of growth with our new ED, Marie Claude at the helm’’, said board director member Linda Wolfond.
Prior to this role, Marie-Claude served as the CEO of The Next 3B, a global organization whose mission is to accelerate the economic potential and ensure inclusiveness of the next 3 billion people joining the internet, with a focus on women and livelihood. Next 3B launched in 2015 as a special initiative supported by Tata Communications and forward-thinking partners who believe that the spread of mobile technologies offers transformative opportunities to positively influence our society. Prior to completing her MBA, Marie-Claude was an award-winning journalist who spent 14-years producing and telling stories from over 30 countries as a RadioCanada reporter and through Cpasifou, her independent multimedia project documenting her family’s year-long around-the-world journey.
