Meet Two Award-Winning Women Entrepreneurs from Jordan

Recently, Suzan Al-Omary and Nadia Marian, two FINCA clients from Jordan, won the Citi Micro-entrepreneur Awards for their contributions to community development and building local economies.

Suzan Al-Omary, a client from North Shouna branch, once struggled to raise her six children after she got divorced. After learning about FINCA loans from her uncle, she decided to start her own business to help her family. With the loans, she has been able to build and manage a citrus peels jam factory. The profits from the factory offer her children a better environment to live, study and grow. Her business has grown so much that it has created many jobs in the community as well as train local youth with basic job skills. Now, Suzan wants to give back to her community by offering healthy sandwiches for students at her neighborhood schools.

Nadia Marian is another winner from Jordan and a FINCA client from the Irbid branch. She runs a fitness center called Roza, where women can register to become members by paying a minimum fee. Roza also provides specialized nutrition advice to help women keep fit and healthy. Because of Nadia’s commitment to empowering women to achieve self-confidence and health, Roza has become the most popular fitness center in Nadia’s neighborhood.
