Ecuador Branch Reopens After 2016 Earthquake

Last year, a devastating earthquake hit Ecuador, destroying over 800 buildings and impacting thousands of lives. There were significant damages to the Portoviejo FINCA branch, causing its closure. Thankfully, the branch has been restored and is now open for business again to our clients.

FINCA serves over 25,000 clients in Ecuador with loans, savings, insurance and money transfer services. In the wake of the disaster, FINCA staff provided a three-month grace period on loan repayments for clients in the affected areas. In addition, they helped to facilitate over $200,000 in insurance payouts to those impacted by the earthquake.
